This activity is part of a series of 10 holiday-centered activities intended for students in grades K-4 that are learning the Hebrew alphabet for the first time. The activities are meant to build upon each other and to be used in order for students to cumulatively learn the alphabet.

The letters taught in this first section focusing on Shabbat Shalom are:

Shin/ Sin

Bet/ Vet

Tav

Lamed

Final mem

Vav

Activity 1: Using the attached Hebrew letters, create a hopscotch grid with 8 letters listed above. Students throw a stone or marker and hop on one foot to the square it lands on. When they reach the square, they must correctly identify the letter and say its sound before they can continue.

Activity 2: Have students spell out "Shabbat Shalom" using the cards attached.
