Hebrew Through Holidays: Hanukkah (Part 5 of 10)
This activity is part of a series of 10 holiday-centered activities intended for students in grades K-4 that are learning the Hebrew alphabet for the first time. The activities are meant to build upon each other and to be used in order for students to cumulatively learn the alphabet.
The letters taught in this section on Hanukkah are:
Dalet
Kaf/Chaf
The words taught in this section are:
נֵס
גָּדוֹל
הָיָה
שָׁם
פֹּה
נֵר
חֲנֻכִּיָּה
חֲנֻכָּה
מַכַּבִּים
Using the attached Hanukkah related words, carefully cut each paper so that each letter is separated. Then set up a relay race where students must run to a designated spot, pick up a flashcard with one Hebrew letter, run back to their team, and either identify the letter (beginners) or use it to form the Hanukkah related word with their team (advanced). The first team to correctly identify or form a word wins.
