Hebrew Through Holidays: Rosh Hashana (Part 2 of 10)
This activity is part of a series of 10 holiday-centered activities intended for students in grades K-4 that are learning the Hebrew alphabet for the first time. The activities are meant to build upon each other and to be used in order for students to cumulatively learn the alphabet.
The words taught in this section focusing on Rosh Hashana are:
שׁוֹפָר
לְשָׁנָה טוֹבָה
וּמְתוּקָה
יוֹם טוֹב
רֹאשׁ הַשָּׁנָה
This follows our previous lesson on Shabbat. The new letters taught in this section are:
Aleph
Nun
Fey (pey)
Resh
Hey
Tet
Mem
Koof
Yud
The teacher should first introduce these letters and then can encourage students to participate in the Rosh Hashana Treasure Hunt attached. Students must decode the clues to find the next location or item. This can be done indoors or outdoors.
