This activity is part of a series of 10 holiday-centered activities intended for students in grades K-4 that are learning the Hebrew alphabet for the first time. The activities are meant to build upon each other and to be used in order for students to cumulatively learn the alphabet.
The Hebrew Phrases taught in this Havdalah section are:
הַבְדָּלָה
נֵר
בְּסַמִּים
יַיִן
יְהוּדִים
אוֹרָה
שָׁבוּעַ טוֹב

Havdalah celebrates the ending of Shabbat and separating the holiness of Shabbat from the regular weekdays. In this exercise, students will debate their own separations of ritual items and determine which are holy and which are profane.
