Hebrew Through Holidays: Tu Bishevat Fruit Salad Game (Part 7 of 10)
This activity is part of a series of 10 holiday-centered activities intended for students in grades K-4 that are learning the Hebrew alphabet for the first time. The activities are meant to build upon each other and to be used in order for students to cumulatively learn the alphabet.
By lesson 7, students have already been introduced to ALMOST all of the Hebrew letters. This lesson does not introduce new letters but reviews many letters that have been previously covered.
Some vocabulary that is covered in this lesson is:
Tapuz: (תפוז) Orange
Tapu'ach: (תפוח) Apple
Banana: (בננה) Banana
Avati'ach: (אבטיח) Watermelon
Af'ar'sek: (אפרסק) Peach
Tut: (תות) Strawberry
Enav: (ענב) Grape
Duv'devan: (דובדבן) Cherry
It is traditional on Tu Bishevat to eat fruits. In this game of "Fruit Salad" students will learn the names of Hebrew fruits while engaging in fun games and getting mixed together into a "Fruit Salad" in a game based on "where the wind blows."
