What can Judaism teach us about civic education in an increasingly divided world? Rabbi Charlie Savenor, 2026 Covenant Award Recipient and Executive Director of Civic Spirit, a nonpartisan organization that strengthens civic education in faith-based schools, joins Samantha Vinokor-Meinrath to explore how Jewish education can help young people become informed, engaged members of our democracy.

Drawing on Jewish texts and traditions, Rabbi Savenor explores how machloket (constructive disagreement) can strengthen relationships and build community, why conflict can be a sign that we care, and how to balance belonging with the willingness to challenge one another. From civic knowledge and skills to a sense of responsibility for others, he shares how Jewish wisdom can help us navigate this moment of division with greater intention, attention, and a commitment to action: “If you see something, do something.”
