Through powerful music, moving poetry, compelling videos, and authentic primary sources, your students will explore the historical journey that led to the founding of the State of Israel.

This unit offers a meaningful opportunity to deepen their understanding of the sacrifices made to ensure we could once again be a “Free People in Our Land.”

Remember. Honor. Celebrate is a unit of lessons and resources designed by IsraelLINK for the commemoration and celebration of the Yamim.  We’ve provided two robust options—one for Yom HaZikaron (Israel’s Memorial Day) and one for Yom HaAtzmaut (Israel’s Independence Day). If time only allows for one, you can use the Independence Day lesson on its own. It includes key elements from Memorial Day to help students reflect on the sacrifices made for Israel’s independence while also celebrating the country’s achievements. If you’re teaching both lessons, you may notice some repetition. Feel free to skip or adapt those sections as needed based on what you’ve already covered.
