Tu Bishvat is called the Birthday of the Trees. Trees, and agriculture in general, pop up all over the Tanakh (Bible). In this middle school activity, students look at how, why and where trees are mentioned in the Tanakh while gaining important independent learning skills.

The activity can be modified for students of all ages.

Students use Sefaria’s search capabilities to discover their favorite “tree” verses. Student groups create Jamboards celebrating their favorite verses which they can share with their class, school, and beyond. Students also learn about the structure of the Tanakh (Bible).
