Hebrew Language Comprehensive Exam (HLCE)
There are 4 parts to this Checkpoint B Exam:
1. Speaking – administered between April 1st and five days prior to the written test date
2. Listening
3. Reading
4. Writing
Scoring Point Distribution:
- Speaking = 24 credits (12 credits per task)
- Listening = 26 credits (2 credits per question)
- Reading = 30 credits (2 credits per question)
- Writing = 20 credits (10 credits per essay)
ORDERING PROCESS
Per the June 2025 NYSED Regents schedule, the exam will next be administered on Monday, June 23, 2025, 9:15 AM.

The deadline to submit the contract is Friday, May 30, 2025.

The fee is $ 7.00 per exam.

The deadline to submit payment is Friday, June 6, 2025.

Test materials will not be sent until payment for all open invoices for the exam has been received.

Schools are to use their email confirmation of the order as their invoice. Formal invoices will only be sent upon written request.

All test materials will be emailed to schools as .pdf documents. Please make sure the Email Addresses listed in the online Contract are monitored and accessible.

Part I documents for the Oral Section will be emailed after March 31st AND after payment has been received.

Parts II-IV documents for the Written Section will be emailed one week prior to the administration date.

ADMINISTRATION

The scheduled date is Monday, June 23, 2024 at 9:15 AM.

There is no alternate or make-up date.

The Part 1 Speaking Test must be administered any time between April 1st and June 16th.

The Part 1 guidelines and a list of pre-selected tasks will be emailed to participating schools after March 31st and after the school's fees have been received.

- Approximately one week prior to administration, test materials for the written exam will be emailed to the Exam Coordinator and the Principal at the email addresses provided in the online Contract.

All test materials must be kept securely locked until the day of the test administration.

Schools do not need a NYS Regents-approved vault for locking the materials.

Administration of the exam must follow NYS Regents Regulations.

Anything that might compromise the validity of the exam must be immediately reported to Sara Seligson.

Answer sheets do not require scanning. (There is no data entry in Level 0 for this exam.)

Scoring keys will be e-mailed to participating schools after 10:45 AM on June 23rd.

All participating schools will be asked to complete and submit a post-administration survey whether or not the exams were administered in the end. The information provided will help plan future programming.
