The New Year of the Trees provides an opportunity to delve deeper in age-appropriate ways into many issues in Israel, from ecology, land use and forest fires to immigration and minority rights.

You'll find Torah and Talmud sources behind Tu B'Shevat, the history of how tree planting on the holiday became a part of Zionism in the late 19th century, cultural resources relating trees to the renewal of the Jewish people and birth of the modern state, and links to further resources, along with study questions to frame lessons and discussions and a variety of activities to gain understanding about the holiday and about Israel.
