Adapting the Magic of Belonging from Summer Camp into the School Year

In-Person: Ramah Nyack, Eden Village
Free

Jewish summer camp can be life-changing for both campers and staff, in part because of how they foster cultures of belonging. Join together for a day of learning as we visit two Jewish summer camps, Ramah Nyack and Eden Village Camp, who are masters at fostering belonging in their spaces. We’ll see programming in action (such as Ramah Nyack's Migrash (field) and Eden Village Camp's garden), speak with camp leaders, and determine how we can make our own spaces emulate the magic of belonging at summer camp.

Transportation is up to each participant. We will begin our day together at 8:45am at Ramah Nyack.

The $10 cost covers a delicious, organic lunch at Eden Village Camp!

Johanna Press

Johanna loves to help young people harness the tools of Jewish tradition to craft meaningful lives, foster deep community, and change the world. She studied Environmental Science and Jewish Studies at Yale University, the Pardes Institute, and Yeshivat Hadar. While teaching Talmud at Abraham Joshua Heschel High School, her students introduced her to Eden Village Camp and she never looked back! Since her first summer in 2018, Johanna has loved working on camp programming, recruitment and community partnerships, communications, and camper care – while getting to sing and dance every day, snack on farm-fresh produce, and grow life-long friendships. Originally from Philadelphia, she lives with her husband and daughter in Austin, Texas.
