Telling Our Torah: Identity and Belonging at the Early Childhood Center at Stephen Wise Free Synagogue

Miriam earned her bachelor's in psychology from Yeshiva University and her master's in early childhood and elementary education from Bank Street College of Education. She has been working in early childhood since 1999, first as a classroom teacher before she became an administrator when she joined Stephen Wise's ECC in 2007. She is active in various Jewish early childhood networks and worked as a mentor for new and aspiring leaders as part of the Jewish Early Childhood Education Leadership Institute for three years. Miriam has participated in three study tours to Reggio Emilia, Italy, with the most recent trip focusing on Jewish educators, and she has participated in various educational trips to Israel.

Amy Martin is the Director of Early Childhood Education and Family Engagement at The Jewish Education Project.  

Over the course of her career, Amy has experience as a teacher in day schools, early childhood, and congregational settings and in administration of congregational schools and synagogue family engagement. Amy is passionate about supporting educators to be reflective practitioners and has served as a teacher mentor for day school, congregational school, and nursery school educators. She has participated as a Fellow in both the Mandel Teacher Educator Institute and M²: Institute of Experiential Jewish Education. Amy received her BA from Bryn Mawr College and her Masters in Jewish Education from Hebrew College and holds a Certificate of Advanced Studies from Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies.
