What Do We Do Outside? An Intro for Early Childhood Educators to Teaching Outdoors

In-Person: Online Webinar
Free

We know many schools are eager to spend more time outside, because it is healthier for our community, yet we also know that there have always been so many extraordinary benefits for young children to spend a significant amount of time outside.

This session will be led by Jewish Education Project Early Childhood Consultant Sasha Kopp as she shares theory from the field as well as personal experiences spending time outside in all weather in both Denmark and Boston. She will also share ideas about how to schedule days, what materials to have on hand as well as re-framing our mindset as teachers to be true observers and facilitators of children’s play and curiosity.

Sasha Kopp is a Community Early Childhood and Family Engagement Consultant at The Jewish Education Project. Sasha grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and has loved camp and the outdoors for as long as she can remember.  In 2010, Sasha found her passion for outdoor education through a semester studying in abroad and working at Skovbørnebaven Skovletten a public forest kindergarten in Glostrop, Denmark. This experience inspired her to spend more time outside as a teacher at Temple Beth Shalom in Needham, MA where she took her classes outside for hours on end - through all kinds of weather! Sasha is excited to share her passion and creativity, as together, we re-think how to spend time our outside.

This online web meeting is an opportunity to learn best practices and share ideas about outdoor education.
