Lesson

In this worksheet there are 12 snowmen each with its own three letter Hebrew weather word. The teacher (or the students) can cut up the snowmen and put them back together in the order of the words to learn vocabulary.

This worksheet reinforces Hebrew letter recognition and word association. Appropriate for students in grades K-5, this activity helps with decoding and learning basic vocabulary about the weather.

Some additional activities might include:

  • asking students "what is the weather today? מָה מֶזֶג הָאֲוִיר הַיּוֹם?"
  • having them answer "today there is... הַיּוֹם יֵשׁ" OR "today is.... הַיּוֹם זֶה"
  • encouraging them to act out that weather charades-style and asking their peers to guess the answer in Hebrew!
  • encouraging students to draw pictures of each weather example

Hazon Tu B'Shvat Haggadah

For centuries we have marked time by celebrating trees and our connection to the natural world this time of year. Nestled between the darkest days of winter and the blossom of springtime Tu B'Shvat offers us a chance to reconnect with the natural world when we often feel disconnected and cooped up inside. But just as trees are working hard sending nourishment to their roots in preparation for springtime growth, so too do we prepare for our reemergence into the world of activity following months of cautionary life. We invite you to use the Hazon 2021 Tu B'Shvat Haggadah as your guide in this celebration of life, nourishment, and hope.
