About this Book
85 improvisational drama games that have been specially adapted to bring out Jewish lessons and paired with thematically appropriate short texts and discussion questions. The games are organized in sets of 5 corresponding to holidays, character traits, and mitzvot. These games are ideal for drama teachers, as icebreakers, in school or community, and for a wide range of ages starting in grade 7.
This resource is intended to teach drama skills grounded in Jewish ethics as well as to present theatrical expression as a mode of Torah study. The games generally assume relatively little prior knowledge in order to participate. While the depth and quality of engagement increases over time with a consistent group across multiple sessions, no repeat engagement nor prior relationship between the players is needed.
For the above reason, it is an ideal basis on which to form an after school improv club or to use to support an existing drama club.
