Matan has been working on disability and inclusion in the Jewish community by sharing resources and training educators. Their collection of lessons for JDAIM are grouped by grade, with age-appropriate big ideas, objectives, and handouts. Each lesson also includes accessibility notes– it's important to keep these considerations in mind when planning programming, and JDAIM is a good time to take on the practice if you haven't yet already done so.

The following free PDF lesson plans are included:

  • Introduction to Disability & Inclusion
  • Grades K-2
  • Virtual teaching tips
  • Grades 3-5
  • Middle and high school

A sample of values and big ideas found in Matan's lesson plans across the different age/grade offerings:

  • Love your neighbor as yourself (treat other people the way you would want to be treated)
  • We all have similarities and differences.
  • People who can’t talk can communicate
  • Moses had trouble talking, but he was still the leader
  • Pursuing justice is a Jewish value
  • Fighting ableism is part of pursuing justice
