The Deal with the Spiel, Creating LGBTQ Inclusive Purim Programming

Purim is a time when we dress up, celebrate, and turn convention on its head. It’s a holiday with a different set of rules and customs than other days, which presents both liberatory possibilities and harmful stereotypes of LGBTQ people, particularly trans and non binary folks. Purim celebrations can create an unsafe and exclusionary tone if they include mockery of gender identity and expression.
