Inspired by the International Worldwide Shabbat Project, the tech team and special education professionals at Beit Issie Shapiro have designed an interactive and inclusive activity to engage young students in learning about Shabbat. Play along and learn how different people celebrate Shabbat, traditional foods you may find on a Shabbat table, and more…
You can find the activity on the Jigzi website using this link: All About Shabbat

Ideas for use in the classroom:
Use the activity All About Shabbat to explore:
- Community diversity - Different Shabbat traditions – have students share their family's traditions for Friday night and Shabbat comparing the different ways people observe Shabbat traditions.
- Origins of traditional foods – this can also be a segue into exploring a family's roots and their ancestors' countries of origin.
- Use the activity as a springboard to explore how Shabbat is celebrated in different countries around the world.
Enjoy the activity and Shabbat Shalom!
