Text Study

Session Description

At Yeshiva University on Yom Ha'Atzma'ut (Israeli Independence Day) 1956, Rav Joseph B. Soloveitchik delivered an empowering and perhaps radical sermon that was later published as the essay Kol Dodi Dofek. In this session we will explore Soloveitchik's surprising response to suffering, his conception of Jewish peoplehood, and his conclusions about how American Jewry should relate to the State of Israel in times of crisis. Join us in this text study to enrich and strengthen yourself with Torah for this moment—both timely and timeless in equal measure.  All texts in English, no prior experience of Jewish text study necessary.
