Unpacking the Israel – Saudi Relationship
On the surface, Israel and Saudi Arabia seem like sworn enemies, but behind closed doors they've secretly collaborated for decades. From covert aid during the Yemeni civil war, to joint efforts against Saddam Hussein during the Gulf War, to Saudi Arabia’s tacit support for the Abraham Accords, their “off-the-record” alliance has deep roots.
Despite public hostilities and the recent tensions surrounding the Gaza War, the mutual need to counter the shared threat of Iran keeps bringing them closer. The Israel-Saudi relationship has long been an open secret. The only question is when it will finally become official.
