We can all examine a particular aspect of Israel, but its culture is formed when all of the pieces interact with one another and spit out something completely new, completely….Israeli. How else can we explain a Shabbat table with matbouchagefilte fish, Israeli Goldstar Beer, and k’naffeh? That’s Israel!

When it comes to podcasts, we all know where to turn to in order to learn more about Israeli history, politics, or current events.

Israeli culture, however, remains up for grabs. That’s where Sababoosh comes in.

It explores Israeli culture  in weekly conversations with various experts and practitioners on a wide range of topics; the Hebrew language, music, cuisine, environmentalism, film, comedy, and the list continues to grow.

Guests so far have included:

-Guy Sharett, host of Hebrew slang podcast, "Streetwise Hebrew"

-Aleeza Chanowitz, creator and star of Israeli show, 'Chanshi'

-Omri Marcus, original writer for “Eretz Nehederet” and consultant for a wide range of Israeli and international shows

-Professor Alon Tal, environmental activist and former Member of Knesset

Connecting with Israeli culture gives us a direct link to Israeli society that isn’t impacted by world events. It lets us get to know Israelis in a way that goes beyond a textbook or article. Just like someone might get to know you better by learning about your taste in music, sense of humor, and favorite food, we can become closer to the Israeli people in the same way.
