Facilitators: Ivy Schreiber, Loen Amer, Rabbi David Levy
Format: Hybrid (includes some virtual)

About this Network:

NEW for 2025-2027!

Are you a Long Island Education Ddirector at a Jewish institution from Astoria to Islip and from Long Beach to Riverhead? Join Project Bet-A to reimagine your Jewish educational program for the next generation!

The Jewish Education Project is excited to offer our high-quality professional development for educational leaders of local synagogues, after-school programs, and independent models in Nassau, Suffolk, and Queens as our network.

We are grateful to the generous support of a national funder and with gratitude to our partner, UJA Federation of New York.

Project Bet-A will engage you in 2-years of professional learning that will empower you to transform Jewish Education in your own organization.

The first year of professional development will include:

  • Developing a vision for Jewish education by defining learning outcomes through exposure to educational frameworks like MAP – My Aspirations Playbook
  • Exploring the foundations of change as a leader
  • Embracing approaches to innovation

The second year of professional development will include:

  •  Implementing new approaches to education
  • Supporting educators to put into practice the learning from year one

Additional Information:

Many Long Island and Queens educators have long been part of our Long Island Educators Network. This year, we are excited to offer this meaningful opportunity to re-imagine part-time Jewish education for the next generation.

Project Bet-A is high-quality professional development for educational leaders of local synagogues, after-school programs, and independent models in Nassau, Suffolk, and Queens. Engage in 2-years of professional learning that will empower you to transform Jewish Education in your own organization.

  • Over the course of 2 years, you will receive 28 hours of in-person professional learning. In between trainings you will participate in webinars and asynchronous learning and receive curated resources to support your growth.

  • “Reimagining part-time Jewish education is a big task. Project Bet-A created a space where that reimagining happened in community. For two years, we came together to learn with and from each other, as we wrestled with what it means to be a leader in Jewish education today.  Project Bet-A recognized the challenges and celebrated the journey of discovery… With a healthy mix of big questions, granular planning, and a sharing of hopes and dreams, we thought broadly and had experiences we could immediately share with our schools.” --Rebecca Hirschwerk, 2023-25 Project Bet-A participant
