Israel Re:Framed — Immersive Trips for Jewish Educators
Come to Israel. Reimagine Israel Education.
Three years after October 7th, our students are asking harder questions about Israel than ever, and they need educators ready to meet and guide them.
That’s why The Jewish Education Project is inviting Jewish educators across settings to participate in a week-long immersive in Israel—the perfect laboratory for modeling and bringing to life the Reimagining Israel Education Framework. Together, we’ll deepen our connection to Israel and its diverse people, make sense of complexity and competing ideas, and return ready to embark on the work of the future: making the changes needed to deliver a Reimagined Israel Education for the next generation of learners.
What to expect:
- Not your standard Israel itinerary — immersives are intentionally designed to both model the Reimagining Framework and to provoke discussion—through the exploration of several essential questions—about how we transform Israel education in our communities.
- Israelis as partners, not just presenters — opportunities to build relationships with Israeli peers who share our mission of reimagining Israel education are an essential ingredient of the program.
- Many Israels, many voices — we will bear witness to the stories of Israelis from across religious and political spectrums, including Arab/Palestinian citizens of Israel. Together we will practice listening with care, even through discomfort.
- Room for emotion and for rigor — and for grief and joy, inspiration and discomfort. Whether this is a first visit to Israel or a twentieth, each participant will engage as a thoughtful educator with a unique emotional journey with Israel.
- Only the beginning — virtual and in-person opportunities to connect, reflect, and continue reimagining Israel education back in North America.
Applications are open for several cohorts:
-
February 15-21, All Jewish Educators, priority deadline: November 22
-
March 15-21, Camp Professionals in partnership with Foundation for Jewish Camp, priority deadline: December 6
-

FAQs:
Who can apply?
Eligible educators include those working with learners from early childhood through high school in supplementary schools, day schools, camps, JCCs, ECCs, national organizations, and alternative Jewish education settings.
Alumni of previous Israel programs with The Jewish Education Project, including Mishlachot Areyvut and Qushiyot, are eligible to join an Israel Re:Framed immersive.
Educators who have not previously traveled to Israel are welcome to apply, but please note that we anticipate running a dedicated First Timers immersive, tailored for this audience, later in 2027.
Please address questions on eligibility to Rena Rosen (rrosen@jewishedproject.org).
What does the program cost?
The $500 fee covers the entire program, including all accommodation, meals (except for one evening meal), and ground transportation. Participants, or their employers, are responsible for booking their own travel to Israel in coordination with The Jewish Education Project staff, and will be eligible for reimbursement of flight costs up to $1500. If the cost of participation represents an obstacle to participation, please contact Jenna Handler (jhandler@jewishedproject.org) to discuss how we can make this opportunity accessible to you.
What is Reimagining Israel Education?
Launched after October 7, 2023, Reimagining Israel Education began as a broad collaboration with more than 400 educators, learners, researchers, thought leaders, and organizational partners. Together, we shaped a landscape analysis, a new Framework, and a growing body of work to bring it to life.
Between now and June 2028, The Jewish Education Project is offering educators professional learning experiences in Israel and North America to help educators build the knowledge, skills, and confidence to teach Israel with depth, honesty, and care.
These Israel immersives are generously supported by the Jim Joseph Foundation, Crown Family Philanthropies, Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies, and the Marcus Foundation.
What about Jewish observance?
We are committed to providing a level of Kashrut and a Shabbat experience that enables full participation in the program for all involved. Please note that daily prayer with a minyan will not be compatible consistently with program itineraries.
