How we tell the story of October 7th matters.  The Hope and Resilience content, while not ignoring the tragedy of that day, focuses on the incredible acts of heroism displayed by ordinary people, who made the choice to act to save others.  Students will meet Gilad Segev, an Israeli singer/songwriter/musician who created an extraordinary collection of music videos entitled, The Heroes Project.  Gilad worked with the families to tell the stories of the heroes of October 7th through music videos.  The Heroes Project partnered with IsraelLINK to create these turn-key classroom resources that depicts the everyday people who demonstrated heroic acts, and displayed remarkable courage in the face of unimaginable circumstances. This lesson will demonstrate how portrayals of Jewish heroism can deeply resonate with learners, evoking profound emotional responses. Students will be in awe of these individuals and will leave inspired to find the spark within themselves to rise to the challenges in their own lives, and be a light unto others.

This resource can be used in a classroom or assembly setting.  It includes a text study, a brief video of Gilad Segev explaining his motivation behind The Heroes Project, 4 videos of heroes, and discussion prompts.  There is also an opportunity for students to create their own creative expressions of the heroes they "meet" that will be shared with he families.  Please preview all videos to determine if they are appropriate for your students.

Additionally, there is a segment on The Spirit of Israel that consists of short video testimonies of additional heroes that survived to tell their stories.  Please preview all videos to determine if they are appropriate for your students.

The last resource hub consists of turn-key PowerPoint presentations with accompanying lessons plans.
