DRJC Tools and Methodologies: Relationship-Centered Pedagogy
Ever wonder how to create that “all in” buzz of energized Jewish text study and community in your setting? Jewish tradition provides us with a revolutionary technology to do just that: the havruta! Havruta, the practice of learning in pairs, places relationships at the center of text study, cultivating both intellectual rigor and human connection. In this interactive session, Pedagogy of Partnership (PoP) will share core frameworks and tools for designing intentional, joyful havruta learning in your setting. Participants will experience PoP havruta firsthand and leave with adaptable materials to build relational learning communities where learners—and the text itself—can thrive.

Dr. Orit Kent is the founder and co-director of Pedagogy of Partnership (PoP), a research-based Jewish education model that reinvigorates the practice of havruta to cultivate habits of wonder, empathy, and responsibility in learning and communal life. PoP, powered by Hadar, offers training and resources to educators, school leaders, and families. A long-time Jewish educator, teacher-educator, researcher, and writer, Orit has written widely about peer and relationship-based learning and is the co-author of the award-winning book, A Philosophy of Havruta. Orit has been a leader in numerous professional and leadership development programs.
Allison Cook is the founder and co-director of Pedagogy of Partnership (PoP), a research-based Jewish education model that reinvigorates the practice of havruta to cultivate habits of wonder, empathy, and responsibility in learning and communal life. PoP, powered by Hadar, offers training and resources to educators, school leaders, and families. Allison is a long-time Jewish educator, teacher-educator, researcher and writer, and has led numerous programs to create tools and frameworks to improve teaching and learning, instructional leadership, and meaningful collaborative work and conversation. Allison is a 2023 recipient of the prestigious Covenant Award for excellence in Jewish education.
