“Where Will You Stand…?”: Combatting Antisemitism and Antiracism Through the Broadway Musical “Parade.”

Event date/time:

Wednesday, July 26th, 2023 from 9:00am-4:30pm

Description:

“Parade,” the musical by Jason Robert Brown and Alfred Uhry, follows Leo and Lucille Frank, a newlywed Jewish couple struggling to make a life in the old red hills of Georgia. When Leo is accused of an unspeakable crime, it propels them into an unimaginable test of faith, humanity, justice and devotion. The show contains topics of racism and antisemitism, both of which are prevalent in our modern-day USA, particularly within the lives of our youth, as they experience Jewish life and intersectional identities.

This Day of Learning is for educators in the part-time Jewish ed space who work with youth and teen learners. Join together as we explore a better understanding of how to help our learners navigate through these experiences. Our time will be spent conversing, problem solving, and attending a matinee showing of "Parade" on Broadway.
