Join youth-serving professionals and educators from across the Jewish community for a day of engaging learning and conversation about the mental wellness challenges facing Jewish teens and soon-to-be teens. Together we will explore how we can support mental well-being and make Jewish life and living a source of thriving for youth and their families.
Learn skills for centering mental, emotional, social, and spiritual health across youth work from experts and peers.
Featuring keynote speaker Dr. Yoni Schwab, PhD, of The Shefa Center, “Engaging Youth in the Age of Screens: Facing the Challenge TOGETHER.”
Jonathan Haidt’s Anxious Generation has sparked a national conversation about the harm that cell phones and social media have on children and teens. It has become clear that educators and community leaders are crucial in guiding a more positive culture change for Jewish youth and their families. Yoni will share a perspective from the field about how we can find balance in our relationship with technology for the benefit of our teens and ourselves.
All youth-facing professionals are invited to attend, including, but not limited to, those working in camping, campus life, congregations, day schools, community centers, education, mental health, schools, synagogues, and more.
Select sessions will offer NYS Continuing Education credits for social workers, thanks to a partnership with UJA-Federation New York.
Yoni Schwab, PhD, is the Assistant Head of School at the Shefa School in Manhattan, the first and largest Jewish day school in the world for children with dyslexia and language-based learning disabilities. As a member of the 3-person founding team, he has been involved in every aspect of the school since its launch in 2014. A clinical psychologist, Yoni previously served as the Psychologist at The Windward School and on the faculty of the Windward Teacher Training Institute. He is an Adjunct Clinical Supervisor at Ferkauf Graduate School of Yeshiva University and maintains a private clinical practice. He is a sought-after presenter on a range of topics, including ADHD, anxiety, limit setting, learning disabilities, and the effects of technology on youth. He lives in Riverdale, NY, with his wife (a teacher) and has 3 children.
